Self Injury is a difficult behaviour to understand whether you engage in it, have a loved one who is effected by it, or are trying to help through support or treatment. I hope the information on this site will lead to a better understand of self injury, regardless of your reason for visiting.

This site was not created as a means of treatment, but as a source of information. It is not a substitute for professional care. While you will find some theory on self injury on this site, the site itself is not intended to replace a body of theoretical research and information that is already out there.

The main goal of this site is to provide you with real information, education and support from someone who has been there. On this site you will find references to my personal experience with self injury, as well as the experiences of others. I hope that by sharing my own story, others will not have to hide in shame because they have a non-traditional coping mechanism: self injury.

I have also made it a personal mission of my own to increase awareness and education around self injury. I currently do public education presentations to both professionals and self injurers alike. If you are interested in having someone come in to your organization and speak on this topic, please feel free to contact me for more information.

Please check back as I am still finishing the site.
